Early Stage Researchers

Nadia Toffoletto graduated in 2016 in Biomedical Engineering at Polytechnic University of Milan, with a thesis about the design of an experimental set-up for the biaxial tensile testing of biological tissues. In 2019, she obtained a MSc in Biomechanics and Biomaterials at Polytechnic University of Milan, working on the production and characterization of decellularized plant-derived scaffolds for the regeneration of adipose tissue, bone tissue and tendons/ligaments in vitro. In 2018, she participated in the EU Erasmus+ project at Luleå University of Technology (Sweden), focusing on Materials Science and Materials Design.

As an ESR of the Orbital ITN at Instituto Superior Técnico (University of Lisbon, Portugal), her current research is focused on the development of drug-releasing intraocular lenses for the prevention of chronic inflammation after cataract surgery, as an efficient ocular drug delivery alternative to topical ophthalmic medications.
