Zubair Ahmed is a Professor in Neuroscience at the University of Birmingham, UK. He is also Theme Lead for Neuroscience & Ophthalmology and the Director of the Centre for Trauma Sciences Research. His research focus is aimed at identifying the immune/inflammatory, metabolic and repair systems that determine the outcome of neurotrauma. His particular interests are identifying the molecular signalling molecules underpinning neuroprotection and axon regeneration after spinal cord injury and optic nerve injury. He teaches on the BSc Biomedical Science and MBChB programmes and is Programme Director for the MSc in Trauma Science.
