ORBITAL Launches its new podcast channel!

Last month, the ORBITAL ITN launched its official podcast channel, where the latest interviews, lectures, and guest speakers come together to display their research in Ocular Drug Delivery, EU funded scientific research, and more!

The first podcast, “Understanding the role of Gender in EU-Funded Research and Innovation Programmes”, provides listeners with insight into how academia is working on (and in some cases still falling behind) in regards to incorporating gender as both a variable in research and measuring its impact in opportunities.

The talk, by Expert Speaker Katrien Van Der Heyden, of Yellow Window, was part of a series hosted at WIT by the Research Office for Professional Development for Researchers. Yellow Window developed the Gender In EU-funded Research Toolkit and have delivered training sessions all over Europe in order to give the research community practical tools to integrate gender aspects into research. Yellow Window also developed the GEAR tool (which stands for Gender Equality in Academia and Research) that can be found on the website of the European Institute for Gender Equality. Katrien has extensive expertise in academic and applied research, consulting, training and coaching. The central themes in her work are gender, multiculturalism and organisational change.

The new podcast series will shed light on the incredible research and efforts of all ORBITAL consortium members, and especially the hard work of the 15 early stage researchers.

“The goal of the ORBITAL Project is to train early career researchers in innovative methods, but also, to consistently promote the outstanding research being done by our fantastic network. We all believe, just as the Horizon 2020 framework states, that research should be shared widely, and publicly. The best advances in science are made when the science is open and freely accessible”, says Project Manager, Tess Ames.
